Chemical stability of PE plastic presentation
  Release time£º2016/9/23

Chemical stability: PE nonpolar crystalline polymer, having excellent chemical stability, the aqueous solution can acid, alkali and salt at room temperature, such as hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid, phosphoric acid, formic acid, acetic acid, ammonia, sodium hydroxide , a solution of potassium hydroxide and various salts (including potassium permanganate solution and dichromate solution or the like having oxidizing property), even at higher concentrations no significant effect on PE. But concentrated sulfuric acid and concentrated nitric acid and other oxidants will slowly erode PE, the temperature rises, oxidation is more significant.
PE at a temperature not soluble in any solvent, but a solvent similar solubility parameters can swell, as the temperature rises, PE crystallization gradually destroyed, and a solvent to enhance the role of macromolecules, when the temperature reaches a certain PE-soluble aliphatic hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons, halogenated hydrocarbons and the like. 60 ¡æ e.g. LDPE soluble in benzene, HDPE soluble in benzene in 80 ~ 90 ¡æ, both of which can exceed 100 ¡æ after dissolved in toluene, trichlorethylene, tetralin, decalin, petroleum ether, mineral oil and paraffin. But even at higher temperatures, PE is still soluble in water, aliphatic alcohols, acetone, ether, glycerol and vegetable oils. PE solubility and degree of swelling in an organic solvent with a relative molecular mass and degree of crystallinity decreases, therefore, HDPE better than LDPE chemical stability.
